Mary & her beloved horse Byron


Mary Cage has authored Past the Grandstand, a blog about an array of horse racing topics, since the age of 15. From ages 16 to 22, she also authored a blog of the same name on Horse Racing Nation


Mary has held numerous roles in the horse racing industry, working and interning for the likes of Graham Motion, Lone Star Park, WinStar Farm, Nexus Racing Club, and the Texas Thoroughbred Association.

She has been published with America's HorseAmerican Racehorse, the Appaloosa Journal and Mules and More Magazine, as well as with the websites of The BloodHorse and The Equine Chronicle. She has also had photos published with Paulick Report and Thoroughbred Daily News. In her final semester of college, she interned for the American Paint Horse Association, where she had several articles published online and in the Paint Horse Journal.

Mary has been around horses all her life, and has won multiple ApHC National Champion and Reserve World Champion titles in the show ring. 

Mary is a graduate of the University of North Texas, where she graduated with summa cum laude honors as a journalism major with a concentration in advertising and a minor in marketing.
